Dr. Benedict Calys-Tagoe is a sinner saved by Grace who hails from Abola in the Greater Accra region. He was elected as President of Council in 2019 for a one year term. He joined the then Accra Chapel in 1999 as a medical student. Dr Calys-Tagoe has served in various ministries of the church including the CEP, the Teens service and Missions and Evangelism committee.
Dr. Calys-Tagoe was an active member of the Scripture Union and Calvary Road Incorporated at PRESEC during his secondary school days. He later served the Christian Medical Fellowship (CMF) – the Christian organisation of the medical students – in various capacities (Organising Secretary, Contact Group Coordinator and President).
His vision for the church aligns with that of the church in making Christ pre-eminent in all programmes, activities and endeavours of the church. He also seeks to ensure the effective implementation of the constitution and policies of the church. It is his desire to continue the building and implementation of efficient administrative structures started by his predecessor, especially in the area of good and efficient record keeping.
Dr. Benedict Calys-Tagoe is a Medical Doctor, a Public Health Consultant and an epidemiologist. He is currently a Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana Medical School in the Department of Community Health. He is the Faculty Chair in Community Health for the Ghana Chapter of the West Africa College of Physicians. He is also a Fellow of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons.
He is married to Pearl Mawuli Calys-Tagoe and their union has been blessed with three sons.
